If you would like to submit an application to host one of the upcoming ECSQARU conferences, here is some useful information.

ECSQARU takes place every two years (in odd-numbered years) in a European country (or nearby), usually in September.

Once the ECSQARU steering committee has accepted the proposal to host the conference, the chair of the organising committee is responsible for:

  • to set up a local organising committee
  • to prepare a website for the conference
  • to seek financial support (in particular for invited speakers - usually three in number), as the registration fees, which must remain reasonable, are probably insufficient to cover all expenses
  • The two programme committee chairs are selected by the ECSQARU conference steering committee (in agreement with the chair of the organising committee). They cover complementary scientific areas of the conference and belong to different countries. Their responsibilities as programme committee chairs are as follows:

  • Establish the programme committee
  • Publish the call for papers (the call for papers must be approved by the steering committee)
  • Set up a review system based on Easychair or a similar system
  • Ensure that reviews are completed within the specified time frame
  • Line up the invited speakers
  • Create the final programme
  • Coordinate with Springer LNAI for the proceedings, but we now count as an established conference from Springer's point of view and this is now quite routine
  • Produce the final proceedings in the correct format ready for publication (the chair of the organising committee may be one of the editors).
  • Programme committee chairs are not responsible for fund raising.

Optionally, there is the possibility of the programme committee chairs editing a special issue in some suitable journal (IJAR has been the traditional venue for such SIs).

Applications should be sent to the ECSQARU conference steering committee.
